Theresa Yete is 29 years old and lives with her husband and child in rural Nkhotakota. Teresa has a hearing and speech impairment. She used to make a small amount of money (4000mk per month) doing piece work. Theresa took part in the tailoring training in Nkhotakota, graduating in September 2019. As well as tailoring training, she received training in business skills, reproductive health, gender awareness, HIV/AIDS prevention and organic manure production.
When Theresa graduated she was provided with a sewing machine, some materials, a solar panel and support to help her start a business. She now runs a tailoring business from home and makes 12000mk from tailoring and 4000mk from charging phones, using her solar panel. She has an increased income of 400% and her family have an increased income of 220%. Theresa has been able to buy farm inputs and labour. She is expanding her business, has an assistant and is saving money.
