Mandayawo Mdoka is 40 years old and is married with 4 children. He has a physical disability. Madayawo used to work repairing radios, from which he would make only 5000mk (or £5) per month. He and his family had daily struggles to have enough to eat. He took part in MACOHA’s cane furniture training in Nkhotakota, graduating in March 2023. As well as cane furniture, Mandayawo took part in business, gender awareness, reproductive health, HIV and AIDS prevention and organic manure production training. When he finished training, he was given cane furniture tools, some materials and a solar panel. Mandayawo now runs his cane furniture business outside his house and is making and selling stools and tables. He is making 20,000mk per month from his business and 5000mk from charging phones using his solar panel. Mandayawo and his family now do not struggle for day to day needs and he feels his life has completely changed.
