Joseph

Joseph is 48 years old, married and has 7 children. He has leg length discrepancy. He used to be a farmer, making 50,000mk per month. Joseph took part in MACOHA’s carpentry training in Nkhotakota, graduating in March 2021. As well as carpentry, Joseph took part in business, gender awareness, reproductive health, HIV and AIDS prevention and organic manure production training. When he finished training, he was given carpentry tools, some materials and a solar panel. Joseph now makes and sells doors, beds, windows and furniture and is making 125,000mk per month. He has built a new house with iron sheets for his family and has built a shop. He has been able to rent land, is paying for labour and bought a radio, chickens and ducks. He is teaching his son carpentry, who is helping with the business. Joseph is now able to save money and plan for the future.
