Ganziani Thengo is 33 years old and married with 4 children. He lives in Chilowa village, Kanyenda, Nkhotakota district. Ganizani has leg length deficiency. He used to make 8000mk per month from farming rice, tomatoes and cassava. With his income, Ganizani and his family could not afford to buy medicine or eat meat or fish and were unable to save money. Ganizani took part in the cane furniture training in Nkhotakota between October 2018 and March 2019. After receiving his start up tools and materials he started a cane furniture business outside his home, selling chairs, stools and tables. His business has been running for a year and Ganizani’s income has increased by 312%. His families’ income has increased by 437%, as they continue to make money from farming. The family can now afford to see a doctor if they need, do repairs on their house and eat meat and fish. He says he is financially independent and feels he is now able to support his family.
