Dambutso Chotswani

Dambutso Chotswani is 21 years old and lives in rural Ntcheu. He is a bilateral amputee. Dambutso used to make handmade electrical extensions and would make 15,000mk (or £15) per month. He took part in MACOHA’s cane furniture training in Ntcheu, graduating in March 2022. As well as cane furniture, Dambutso took part in business, gender awareness, reproductive health, HIV and AIDS prevention and organic manure production training. When he finished training, he was given cane furniture tools, some materials and a solar panel. Dambutso now runs his cane furniture business outside his house and is making and selling stools, chairs and tables and is now able to make 95,000mk per month. Dambutso has been able to buy a radio, a pig and kitchen utensils and some hair clippers. He has started a secondary barbershop business, bringing in additional income. Dambutso is now financially independent and has also found a wife.
