Alinafe Isaac

Alinafe Isaac is 25 years old and lives in Njinji village, rural Dowa district. She has 2 children. Alinafe has leg disabilities. She used to be reliant upon her parents for support and did not used to work. Alinafe took part in the tailoring training at KODO in September 2021. She learnt how to sew dresses, skirts, shorts and shirts and was also taught business management, gender awareness, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS awareness and organic manure production. When she graduated from training, Alinafe was provided with a sewing machine, some materials and a solar panel. She now runs her tailoring business outside her home. She is the only female tailor in the village, which Alinafe thinks has contributed to her success. Local women like to have a female tailor make their clothes and Alinafe makes them very welcome. She is able to make 40,000mk per month from her tailoring business and 15,000mk from charging mobile phones. She is now financially self-sufficient and supports her parents and children. She is also able to hire labour to farm their land. Alinafe has been able to save some money towards buying a second sewing machine, so that she can employ another tailor and expand her business.
